Nine killed in Nigerian oil tanker fire

LAGOS, June 29, 2018 – At least nine people were killed when an oil tanker truck caught fire in Lagos on Thursday evening, local and international media have reported.

 

According to Federal Road Safety Commission spokesman Bisi Kazeem, the vehicle crashed due to brake failure, burning out five buses, two trucks, a tricycle and 45 cars.

“As a government, we would not relent in putting measures in place to ensure safety of lives and property of all residents,” the Lagos state government wrote in a statement.

Commissioner for special duties Oluseye Oladejo said the state government would continue to investigate the accident, daily Vanguard reported.
