NNPC awards CPEC arm $286-mln deal

LAGOS, July 31, 2018 – NNPC has awarded a China Petroleum Engineering Corporation (CPEC) subsidiary a USD 286-million contract for pipeline work in Nigeria, local media reported Monday.
China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau and Nigerian company Brentex have been contracted to perform additional EPC work for an NNPC pipeline, Yicai Global reported. The new scope includes nearly 90 kilometres of 40-inch trunk pipelines, 15 kilometres of 24-inch branch pipelines, one pigging station, one receiving metering station and three valve chests, as well as related equipment. The total value is USD 409 million, with the CPEC unit taking a USD 286-million share.
The new agreement expands on a previous USD 1.2-billion contract awarded to the pair for the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline. The original scope involves more than 200 kilometres of 40-inch trunk pipeline, 15 kilometres of 24-inch branch pipeline, two pigging stations, two receiving metering stations and 10 valve chests over a 24-month period.
