Norway maritime companies merge for green transition

Norway

BERGEN, December 17, 2021 – Norwegian equipment and service supplier Scana has announced plans to merge with PSW Group, the Bergen-based electrification and shore power player announced on Wednesday.

The merger is expected to happen in January 2022 and will see the companies join at PSW Group’s offices in Bergen, Norway.

PSW Group’s portfolio includes delivery of shore power to the Northern Lights carbon capture plant in Kollsnes, Norway, and 25 different hybridisation projects on offshore vessels.

Scana will provide expertise in floating offshore wind and aquaculture.

“The entire maritime industry is in transition to more sustainable operations. Our goal is to create a partner for this green shift, both in shipping, the offshore industry, the energy industry, and the aquaculture industry,” said Styrk Bekkenes, CEO of Scana, and Oddbjørn Haukøy, CEO of PSW Group.

The new company plans to continue its work on hydrocarbons assets as the green transition continues.
