Oil Search in PNG gas find

ADELAIDE, August 8, 2018 – Oil Search has struck gas onshore Papua New Guinea, partner Santos announced on Wednesday.
Well Barikewa-3 in the PRL9 permit in the Forelands region encountered 25 metres of net gas deposits, the statement added.
“The Barikewa-3 result is encouraging and confirms that there are significant natural gas resources close to PNG LNG infrastructure still to be developed,” said Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher. “Barikewa is located approximately 10 kilometres from the PNG LNG gas pipeline and is therefore well placed to play a part in future LNG expansion projects.”
Oil Search operates the permit with a 45.1% stake in it, alongside partners Santos (40%) and NOC NPCP (14.9%).
