Pengassan to meet Nigeria’s government

ABUJA, December 13, 2017 – The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (Pengassan) is set to meet with the Labour Ministry, according to general secretary Lumumba Okugbawa.

The union has planned a strike, set to begin December 18, in response to layoffs by domestic companies and marginal field operators. The companies will not be involved in the meeting.

With some 20,000 members, Pengassan is the largest registered trade union for senior-level employees in the Nigerian oil and gas industry. Its members comprise staff from upstream, downstream and services industry companies, as well as regulatory agencies of the government.
