PDO awards $550-million drilling contract in Oman
MUSCAT, January 27, 2022 – KCA Deutag Energy has signed a USD 550-million contract with Petroleum Development Oman for drilling services, the Aberdeen-based drilling and engineering company announced on Tuesday.
The ten-year contract has the option to be extended for two years.
The four automated rigs involved in the deal will be constructed by KCA Deutag Energy’s subsidiary International Drilling Technology in Oman.
The drilling company intends to invest USD 100 million on the construction of the rigs. Around 40% will be put towards Omani suppliers to support the country’s localisation initiative.
