PETRONAS announces oil at Tembikai

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14, 2015 – Malaysian state-owned oil entity Petronas announced that it would begin production at the Tembikai oilfield, located offshore Terengganu, Peninsular Malaysia at a depth of around 70 metres.

A total of three wells will be drilled at Tembikai. Once completed, the field is expected to reach peak production levels of around 2,000 barrels of oil per day.

The offshore play is operated under the Tembikai-Chenang Cluster small field risk service contract (RSC). While the field is being developed and operated by Vestigo Petroleum, Petronas’ upstream subsidiary Petronas Carigali will retain full ownership of the play. The Tembikai project is outfitted with a central processing platform connected to a floating storage and offloading vessel.

The Tembikai-Chenang RSC is Malaysia’s fourth RSC to reach production. The country currently has two additional RSCs in the development stage: offshore Ophir in PM 305 and Tanjong Baram in block SL307 offshore Sarawak.
