Qatar Petroleum to farm into Eni block in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, December 17, 2018 – Qatar Petroleum will join Italian major Eni in Mexico’s shallow-water Contract Area 1, international media reported over the weekend.

 

The block, which contains the Miztón, Tecoalli and Amoca fields, is estimated to hold around 2 billion boe and will reach an output of 90,000 bopd by the end of 2021, Bloomberg reported Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al Kaabi as saying.

Once regulatory approval is received, Qatar Petroleum will hold a 35% stake in the block, while operator Eni retains a 65% interest, Upstream Online said.
