Qatar signs LNG trade deal with Bangladesh

DOHA, June 2, 2023 – QatarEnergy has signed a sale and purchase agreement with state-owned Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Minerals Corporation to supply 18 million tonnes per year of LNG to Bangladesh, the Qatari NOC announced on Thursday.

The 15-year agreement will begin in 2026.

“These supply arrangements reinforce our unwavering dedication to safeguarding the energy security of valued customers like Bangladesh and delivering the reliable energy they require for socio-economic development and prosperity,” said Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, minister of state for energy affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy.

Qatar currently delivers 3.5 million tonnes of LNG per year to Bangladesh, making it the largest supplier of LNG to the country and the local NOC.

QatarEnergy has signed a number of LNG deals in 2023, including supply deals with Chinese players.

In November 2022, QatarEnergy and partner ConocoPhillips signed two sales agreements for delivery of up to 2 million tonnes per year of LNG from Qatar to Germany.
