QatarEnergy inaugurates Barzan gas plant

DOHA, March 16, 2022 – QatarEnergy has inaugurated its Barzan gas facility in the Ras Laffan Industrial City north of Doha, the Qatari NOC announced on social media on Tuesday.

The Barzan gas plant has the capacity to produce almost 39.7 bcm (1.4 bcf) of gas per day destined for local power generation and water desalination. It can also produce 2,000 tonnes of ethane and 1,500 tonnes of LPG per day.

The facility will also handle 30,000 barrels of condensate per day that will be processed at the adjacent Laffan refinery.

Gas and condensate come from Qatar’s North Field development.

QatarEnergy holds a 93% stake in the new plant, with ExxonMobil holding the remaining shares.
