Repsol, Ecopetrol pick up US blocks

BOGOTA, November 20, 2017 – Spain’s Repsol will explore four deepwater blocks in the Gulf of Mexico together with Ecopetrol, the Colombian NOC announced on Friday.

 

“We are pleased to increase our presence in areas with high potential offshore in the Gulf of Mexico in the United States, where we already have production exceeding 12,000 bopd, thanks to the outstanding work of our technicians and the partnership with a partner like Repsol, with which we have other exploratory projects in Colombia and abroad,” Ecopetrol president Felipe Bayón said in a statement.

Repsol will be the operator of blocks Garden Banks 77, 78, 121 and 122, and each company will hold a 50% interest in the five-year exploration licence, the press release added.
