Republic of Congo moves closer to LNG production

BRAZZAVILLE, December 28, 2023 – Eni has introduced gas to its Tango FLNG facility on the offshore Marine XII block in Republic of Congo, the Italian energy giant announced on Thursday.

Following the commissioning of the asset, the vessel will produce its first LNG cargo in Q1 2024.

The Tango FLNG has the capacity to produce 1 bcm per year of LNG and is situated alongside the Excalibur FSU.

LNG produced at the Tango FLNG will be the first of its kind for Republic of Congo.

The move comes six months following the company’s FID on the project.

The vessel is part of the larger Congo LNG project located on the Marine XII concession, which also consists of a second FLNG with a capacity of around 3.5 bcm per year that is currently under construction and is expected to be commissioned in 2025.

The Congo LNG development has a planned liquefaction capacity of 4.5 bcm.
