Rig count up across the board

HOUSTON, June 5, 2017 – Baker Hughes released rig count figures over the weekend, revealing an increase in the number of units in the US and Canada, as well as a higher number of international rigs.

There were a total of 916 rigs in the US as of June 2, up 8 units from the week prior. Drillers in Canada added 6 to reach a total of 99 rigs. Baker Hughes’ last count of international rigs dates back to April, when it registered 956 units. The month prior, it counted 13 less.

In the US, the majority of rigs were added in Texas, where Baker Hughes counted 463 units. An additional three were put to work in in Oklahoma for a total of 126.
