Rosneft and Gazprom take new Russia blocks

MOSCOW, January 21, 2020 – Russian oil and gas giants Rosneft and Gazprom have acquired several exploration and development licences in the Yamal-Nenets region of West Siberia, subsurface agency Rosnedra was quoted on Monday as having announced.

 

The 25-year licences included ones for the Mitikyakhsky 1 and West Kharampursky blocks, for which Rosneft will pay about USD 22.7 million. Mitikyakhsky 1 holds an estimated 90 bcm (3.18 tcf) of gas and 700 million boe of oil and condensate, while the second field has not seen significant exploration works, Upstream Online reported.

A licence also went to Gazprom for the Sopochny block, for which the company will pay around USD 200 million. The block has estimated reserves of 261 bcm (9.21 tcf) of gas and about 370 million boe of oil and condensates.
