Roxi strikes oil in Kazakhtan

Kazakhstan

AKTAU, July 16, 2014 – The UK’s Roxi Petroleum has found oil and gas with its first well on its BNG contract area in Kazakhstan, 40 kilometres south of the Tengiz field in the Mangistau Oblast, the company announced last week.

Roxi has a 58.41 percent share of the BNG field and began conducting 3D seismic surveys in the block in 2009 and 2010.

Hydrocarbons were detected at a depth of 4,332 meters of the Deep Well A5. Announcements detailing reserve estimates and further exploration in the area is expected in coming weeks.
