Germany

ESSEN, March 22, 2024 – German utility RWE has signed a multi-year agreement with Nordex to receive wind turbines for a total capacity of 800 MW, both companies announced on Thursday.

Over the next 2.5 years, RWE will purchase around 120 onshore wind turbines from Nordex for its European markets. The machines will mainly be N163 turbines with a flexible output of up to 6.8 MW, but deliverables also include N175 turbines, whose output reaches 6.8 MW, and the N149 model, which reaches 5.9 MW. The multi-year agreement also covers maintenance and servicing.

The parties did not disclose the financial details of the agreement.

Katja Wünschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, said, “By 2030, we want to increase our installed capacity in the onshore wind sector from the current 8.6 GW to 14 GW. This supply agreement with Nordex complements existing contracts and secures additional capacity for us to achieve our growth targets.”

RWE already deploys Nordex turbines at 53 wind farms in seven countries.
