Saudi Aramco discovers two new gasfields

RIYADH, December 2, 2022 – Saudi Aramco has discovered two unconventional gasfields in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced on Wednesday.

The Awtad field is located 142 kilometres southwest of Al-Hofuf and southwest of the Ghawar field.

 

Two successful wells were drilled on the field, with the Awtad 108001 well having a capacity of 283,000 cubic metres (10 mcf) and 740 barrels of condensate per day and the Awtad 100921 well having a capacity of 479,000 cubic metres (16.9 mcf) and 165 barrels of condensate per day.

The second field called Al Dahnaa is located 230 kilometres west of Al Dharan.

Successful drills yielded 229,000 cubic metres (8.1 mcf) per day of gas from the Al Dahnaa 4 well and 496,000 cubic metres (17.5 mcf) of gas and 362 barrels of condensate per day from the Al Dahnaa 370100 well.
