Shell commits to sour gas project in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, September 6, 2022 – Shell has taken its FID on developing the Rosmari-Marjoram sour gas field in Sarawak, Malaysia, the British super-major announced on Monday.
The project will consist of a remotely operated platform, onshore gas plant and a 207-kilometre pipeline. The delivery system will be one of the longest sour gas pipelines in the world.
The onshore gas plant located in Bintulu will utilise solar power from 240 solar panels.
After its expected completion in 2026, the field will have the capacity to produce 22.7 mcm (800 mcf) per day. Gas will be fed to the Petronas LNG complex.
