Shell, Geometric sign gas supply deal in Nigeria

ABUJA , December 4, 2018 – Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and Geometric Power have signed a gas supply agreement for the 140-MW Aba Power Project in Nigeria, local media reported Monday.
SPDC will supply gas by pipeline from its joint venture gas plant in the town of Imo River, daily The Guardian reported.
“This is a further demonstration of our commitment to supporting Nigeria’s industrialisation through gas,” said the managing director of SPDC and country chair of Shell companies in Nigeria, Osagie Okunbor.
The Aba facility was the first independent and integrated power utility in Nigeria, and the project included the gas-fired power plant, a 27-kilometre gas pipeline and a distribution utility.
