Shell in Norway, Malaysia sales

THE HAGUE, June 21, 2018 – Shell has agreed to sell its stakes in the Draugen and Gjøa assets offshore Norway for USD 556 million, the super-major announced on Wednesday.

In a separate release, Shell said it had completed the sale of its 15% interest in Malaysia LNG Tiga to Sarawak State Financial Secretary for USD 750 million.

OKEA, which purchased the super-major’s 44.56% stake in Draugen and 12% interest in Gjøa, will assume operatorship of the former.

“This deal is part of Shell’s global, value-driven USD 30-billion divestment programme and is consistent with our strategy to high-grade and simplify our portfolio,” said Andy Brown, the company’s director for upstream. “Shell has a long and proud history in Norway. We continue to have strategic, long-term positions in Troll and Ormen Lange and are actively seeking new growth opportunities.”
