Singapore to build wind turbine installation vessel

SINGAPORE, March 24, 2022 – Sembcorp Marine has signed a contract to build a next-generation wind turbine installation vessel, the Singaporean shipbuilding company announced on Wednesday.
The ship is based on the company’s in-house design after two years of collaboration with the client and is expected to be completed in early 2025.
The vessel will be able to handle new wind turbine technology, which has scaled up in size.
The cost of the contract and the client were not disclosed.
“This is another monumental step for the offshore wind industry,” said Wong Weng Sun, president and CEO of Sembcorp Marine.
