STATS group wins $10-mln pipeline contract

Scottish pipeline maintenance, modification and repair company STATS Group has been awarded a $10-million emergency pipeline repair contract with an undisclosed LNG operator in the Middle East.

Under the emergency subsea and onshore pipeline repair system and planned isolation contract, the tools used by STATS Group well be kept in ‘a state of readiness’ for use in emergency situations.

The contract stipulates that the company will design, manufacture and test pipeline isolation and intervention equipment for circumferences ranging from 10 to 38 inches.

STATS Group has been expanding in the Middle East, having completed works for firms such as Qatar Gas.

“STATS Group has executed in excess of 40 isolation projects in the Middle East, ranging from 2 to 48 inches on oil, gas and utility pipeline systems… Many of these projects were conducted without the need for a full system shutdown, providing an excellent value proposition and helping our clients realise operational, economic and environmental benefits in comparison to traditional maintenance techniques,” STATS Group Middle East business development manager Vikas Shangari said in a STATS Group press release.
