Technip bags China’s first TLP contract

BEIJING, April 16, 2015 – Technip has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for China’s first tension-leg platforms.
The contract was given to the French company and its joint venture partner, China Offshore Oil Engineering Company, by the state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
The two tension-leg platforms are for the joint development project of the Liuhua 11-1 and 16-2 oil gas gasfields in the South China Sea.
FEED work for the two platforms will be carried out at Technip’s operating centre in Texas and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2015.
The contract includes the design and engineering of the topsides (including two drilling rigs), hulls, mooring and riser systems.
Technip and the China Offshore Oil Engineering Company signed a five-year joint venture agreement in September 2013 to target deepwater engineering, procurement, construction and installation for projects involving subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines.
The Liuhua field holds an estimated 1 billion barrels of oil, making them China’s largest offshore field in production.
