Timor-Leste concludes oil and gas licensing round

DILI, April 25, 2022 – Timor-Leste’s government has finalised its second-ever oil and gas licensing round, state hydrocarbons regulator National Authority of Petroleum and Minerals announced on Friday.

Five out of 18 licences put up for auction have been awarded.

Italian super-major Eni signed a contract for the offshore Block P license, located near the Greater Sunrise field.

 

Australia’s Santos won the offshore exploration licence for Block R.

State-owned Timor Gap acquired the rights to explore onshore Block A.

Timorese fuel distributor Esperança Timor Oan was awarded rights to onshore Block B.

Kazakhstan’s HTS Exploration signed on to explore onshore Block F.

A total of seven companies bid on six blocks under the round.
