TotalEnergies acquires UK solar and battery project pipeline
UK LONDON, June 3, 2025 – TotalEnergies has acquired a pipeline of 350 MW of solar projects and 85 MW of battery projects in the UK from Low Carbon, the company announced on Tuesday.
The 8 solar and 2 battery storage projects are located in southern England and are expected to become operational by 2028, producing more than 350 GWh per year.
“We are very pleased with the acquisition of this pipeline from the renewable developer Low Carbon. The acquisition of these solar and battery projects… will complement our integrated electricity portfolio in the UK,” TotalEnergies senior vice-president for renewables Olivier Jouny said.
The output from the projects will be enough to power around 100,000 UK households.
“Once built, these projects will make a vital contribution to the government’s Clean Power 2030 ambition and reinforce Low Carbon’s track record for developing renewable assets of the highest quality,” Low Carbon CEO Roy Bedlow added.
TotalEnergies is a key oil and gas operator on the UK Continental Shelf and also one of the country’s major suppliers of electricity and gas to the business and public sectors. The company’s UK power portfolio includes offshore wind, solar and a 50% stake in a 1.3 GW combined cycle gas turbine facility. As of March 2025, TotalEnergies had 28 GW of gross renewable electricity capacity globally, aiming to reach 35 GW by year-end.
