Trinidad sees 16 offers in latest oil and gas bid round

PORT OF SPAIN, January 10, 2023 – Trinidad and Tobago has received 16 offers for exploration and development of its resources under its 2022 oil and gas bid round, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries announced on Monday.

Bids were submitted by independent E&P players including Hunter Resource Corporation and Challenger Energy Group.

According to the ministry, the St. Mary block received the most interest.

 

Winners are expected to be announced in the following months.

The country put up 11 plays on offer during its 2022 bid round launched in July 2022.

The 10 onshore blocks on offer consist of Aripero, Buenos Ayres, Charuma, Cipero, Cory D, Cory F, Guayaguayare, South West Peninsula Onshore, St. Mary’s and Tulsa, located in the central and southern onshore acreage of Trinidad.

The single nearshore asset, South West Peninsula Offshore, is located off the southern coast of the island.

The round closed on January 9, 2023.
