Tullow eyes big Guyana drive

LONDON, November 16, 2018 – Tullow Oil is planning a major campaign offshore Guyana next year, the company announced on Thursday.

“Guyana will be the main focus for Tullow’s 2019 exploration drilling programme,” Tullow said in its latest trading update.

“Following the interpretation of extensive 3D seismic, multiple high-quality prospects have been identified across both the Orinduik and Kanuku licences. Furthermore, the success of the neighbouring Hammerhead-1 well in August 2018, only 7 kilometres from the Orinduik block boundary, has further de-risked this acreage.”

The news came days after Guyana suspended issuing new upstream licences until 2020 to update the regulatory framework, Argus Media reported.
