Tullow hires second Ghana rig

ACCRA, June 28, 2018 – Tullow Oil has hired a drillship for a three-well campaign beginning in October, the company said in an operational update released Thursday.
The Stena Forth vessel was contracted from Stena Drilling with flexible extension options and will allow the operator to do simultaneous drilling. The costs of the rig are covered in the company’s capex for the year as its other contracted rig, the Maersk Venturer, began drilling later than initially planned.
“It is anticipated that the Stena Forth rig will initially focus on drilling new wells,” the company wrote.
Tullow is currently operating the Jubilee field and Deepwater Tano developments in Ghana and owns a licence share in the West Cape Three Points development.
