Turkey to add almost 4 GW of solar by end-2025
Turkey ANKARA, October 21, 2024 – Turkey plans to add almost 4 GW of solar by the end of next year, PV Magazine reported on Monday.
The country’s solar capacity will rise from its current level of 18.8 GW to reach 22.6 GW.
The report cited the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources’ 2025 budget proposal, which it said also targets 14.8 GW of wind power, 32.4 GW of hydropower, and 4.9 GW of geothermal power by the end of 2025.
All together, the share of renewables in the country’s energy mix will rise from a 2023 share of 42.7% to an impressive 47.8% in that timeframe.
As of September, Turkey’s top five in-development solar projects included the 1.35-GW Karapinar Solar PV Park, 240-MW Izmir Solar PV Project, the 140-MW Bor-2 Solar PV Park in Nigde, the 140-MW Tosyali Solar PV Park in Osmaniye and the 100-MW Erzin-1 Solar PV Park, according to Power Technology magazine.
