Woodside completes trunkline for Scarborough mega-project

PERTH, October 14, 2024 – The trunkline connecting Woodside’s Scarborough Energy Project in Western Australia to the Pluto LNG processing facility has been successfully completed, Woodside announced on Friday.
When operational, the 433-kilometre pipeline will connect the offshore Scarborough field to the Pluto LNG onshore processing facilities in Karratha, supplying gas for domestic consumption and for export to Asian markets.
“The completion of installation is a significant accomplishment, reflecting the dedication of all involved in achieving this project milestone. With the last components of the trunkline in place, the focus will be maintained on safely executing the remaining project scopes to support the targeted first Scarborough LNG cargo in 2026,” said Liz Wescott, Woodside executive vice-president and COO, Australia.
The infrastructure has taken about 12 months to complete. Italian engineering company Saipem has been responsible for the fabrication and installation of the line structures for the pipes and the transportation and installation of the trunkline, which lies at a maximum water depth of approximately 1,400 metres.
