Angolan oil and gas entities sign local content contracts

LUANDA, August 2, 2023 – CABSHIP and six other national companies in Angola’s oil and gas industry co-signed programme contracts under the country’s regulation for local content, the local logistics and supply chain management company announced on Tuesday.

The contracts require companies to provide information concerning personnel, including the recruitment process and their integration.

The signing was done by Luís Silva, general manager of CABSHIP, and Francisco Domingos, national director of development and local content of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources Jânio Corrêa Victor and Paulino Jerónimo, CEO of the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency.

Other companies that signed alongside CABSHIP were energy players Sonangol E.P. and Etu Energias, engineering entities Atis-Nebest and Sonamet, upstream services company Grupo Simples Oil and Tecssep.

The move falls under Presidential Decree 271/20, an act established in October 2020 to better monitor, control and support development of local content in oil and gas companies.

The secretary of state for mineral resources stated that Angolanisation of the oil sector has reached 87% due to recent investments in training.

Established in 2009, CABSHIP is the largest private employer in the province of Cabinda, with a workforce of more than 550 across more than 50 warehouses.

In June 2023, CABSHIP and maritime and underwater services provider OCTOMAR signed an MoU to set up a diving and marine support company in the Cabinda Special Economic Zone.
