AWS partners with GE Vernova to power data centre expansion
CAMBRIDGE, March 5, 2025 – Renewable energy company GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support the scaling of AWS’s data centres with electrification systems and power generation services, the companies announced on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, GE Vernova will provide power generation equipment and services across multiple sites globally to connect AWS data centres to the grid, and AWS will collaborate with GE Vernova’s Electrification Software business to support AWS Cloud deployments of software for the electric grid, power generation and manufacturing industries.
AWS will also provide GE Vernova with cloud services to advance its cloud migration and digital transformation efforts. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
In addition, the agreement calls for the companies to collaborate on commercialising onshore wind infrastructure and explore opportunities to advance energy transition research, project development and financing.
“We are excited to work with AWS as they advance their computing capabilities and data centre capacity. We believe that GE Vernova’s broad portfolio of energy products and services can help AWS obtain reliable, cost-effective and more sustainable electricity for its data centres in support of their growth objectives,” said Pablo Koziner, chief commercial officer of GE Vernova.
GE Vernova had previously announced a collaboration with AWS to support cloud deployments of software for electric utilities, energy companies, manufacturers and industrial businesses.
