Newrest deepens its Latin American footprint
July 29, 2025Newrest has recently accelerated its expansion in Latin America through a major acquisition that enhances its presence in key markets. By combining large-scale operations with local workforce development, the Group is growing its remote-site service capabilities while supporting regional energy, mining and industrial sectors.
Newrest has deepened its presence in Latin America through the acquisition of Compass Group’s operations in Chile, Colombia and Mexico in a deal announced in September 2024. This strategic move adds around EUR 600 million in annual revenue and 15,000 new employees to the Group’s global workforce. The expansion reinforces Newrest’s remote-site capabilities across the mining, energy and industrial sectors, which represent key drivers of demand in the region.
Following the deal, the Group now boasts a regional presence that spans Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile.
With this acquisition, Newrest strengthens its ability to deliver comprehensive services such as catering, maintenance, accommodation and facility management across complex and large-scale projects. The Group reported a positive operational impact, particularly in high-growth markets such as Chile and Colombia, where demand for integrated logistics and remote services continues to increase.
Beyond infrastructure and logistics, Newrest’s regional strategy prioritises local workforce development. In Guyana, the Group has reached 88% nationalisation of its offshore workforce and 100% full-time local employment. This includes notable strides in gender representation, with 43% of offshore roles held by women and increasing female participation in management positions.
To support long-term talent development, Newrest partners with national institutions such as the Carnegie School of Home Economics. It has also initiated plans to open a training centre that simulates offshore kitchen environments, preparing new staff for roles on rigs and floating platforms. This investment in people reflects a broader vision: combining operational scale with meaningful local engagement.
As Latin America’s resource sectors grow, Newrest is positioning itself as a reliable service partner with both global reach and local impact. The combination of strategic acquisitions and sustainable workforce integration reflects a balanced expansion model, one that aligns with both client expectations and host country priorities.
