Chevron in LNG deal with Chinese player

USA

HOUSTON, August 30, 2016 – Chevron has signed a LNG sales and purchase agreement with China’s ENN LNG Trading Company for deliveries from the super-major’s global supply portfolio, the firm announced yesterday.

The contract is for up to 650,000 tonnes per year of LNG to be delivered to China over a 10-year period. Deliveries are expected to begin between 2018 and the first half of 2019.

The two companies had originally signed a heads of agreement in January 2016 for up to 500,000 tonnes per year of LNG from Chevron’s Western Australian Gorgon project. However, Chevron announced on Monday that the LNG would be delivered from several global facilities, including Australian LNG facilities at Gorgon, the North West Shelf and Wheatstone.
