Air Liquide signs Mexico hydrogen contract

TULA, September 7, 2017 – Air Liquide and Pemex Transformación Industrial have signed a long-term agreement to supply hydrogen to the Tula refinery, the French company announced on Wednesday.

According to a company statement, the deal will see Air Liquide acquire, upgrade and operate the refinery’s existing hydrogen production unit for an investment of EUR 50 million.

 

Air Liquide will provide 90,000 cubic metres of hydrogen per hour once the upgraded facility comes on line, scheduled for Q1 2018.

“We appreciate the confidence Pemex has placed in Air Liquide as their supplier of choice for their Tula refinery’s hydrogen needs,” said company executive vice-president Michael J. Graff in the statement. “This long-term agreement with Pemex further recognises the world-class capabilities of Air Liquide and our commitment to providing safe, reliable and innovative technologies, and deliver even greater value to meet customers needs around the world.”

The objective of the deal is to enable the Tula refinery to produce cleaner transportations fuels.
