Aker to build longest umbilicals system

OSLO, June 6, 2016 – Aker Solutions has signed a contract for the longest umbilicals system ever at the Zohr gasfield in Egypt’s Mediterranean Sea, the company announced today.
The deal for 180 km of steel tube umbilicals will join the Zohr subsea asset to an offshore control platform. The USD 122-million deal was awarded by Petrobel, a JV between Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Italy’s Eni, that is responsible for operations on the field.
The umbilicals will be manufactured at Aker’s plant in Moss, Norway and are expected to be delivered in April 2017.
