Anadarko picks Mozambique contractors

HOUSTON, May 18, 2015 – Anadarko Petroleum has announced the contractors for its onshore LNG development in Mozambique. According to a statement on the company’s website, a joint venture of CB&I, Chiyoda Corporation and Saipem will work on the potential $15 billion project.

 

Work for the LNG park includes two LNG trains, each with capacity of six million metric tonnes. It also includes two LNG storage tanks, each with capacity of 180,000 cubic metres, condensate storage, multi-berth marine jetty and associated utilities and infrastructure. The capacity of the trains exceeds that of the original plans by one million tonnes, while maintaining a cost in line with the original projections.

Anadarko Petroleum operates Mozambique’s Offshore Area 1, in which it holds a 26.5-percent working interest. Other shareholders are ENH (15 percent), Mitsui (20 percent), ONGC Videsh (16 percent), Bharat PetroResources (10 percent), PTT Exploration & Production (8.5 percent), and Oil India (four percent). The company has secured more than eight million tonnes per year in non-binding long-term off-take agreements.
