Angola joins global good governance initiative

LUANDA, June 20, 2022 – Angola has been approved for membership by the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the global standards organisation announced on Thursday.

As a stipulation to join, the country formed a group comprised of civil society, state and public representatives to oversee proper oversight and disclosure of information within the hydrocarbons and minerals sectors.

The initiative will work in line with the nation to address challenges caused by oil price volatility, transparency, NOC reforms and local content.

The country’s initial report within the organisation’s framework will be made within 18 months of joining the organisation.
