Aon grows correspondent network via Angola sale

LUANDA, November 25, 2021 – Global professional services firm Aon has sold its equity interest in its Angola business, shifting to a correspondent relationship with the yet-unnamed new firm that it expects will enhance the new entity’s tailored regional offering.

Aon is in the process of expanding its correspondent relationship to better serve clients in sub-Saharan Africa, the firm said on Wednesday.

The firm formerly known as Aon Angola will operate as Aon’s exclusive correspondent in Angola.

“The transfer of equity interests in Angola to investors with regional expertise, presence and commitment will allow the business to move quickly in line with market movements, and to introduce products that are tailored to the local market,” said Pedro Penalva, Aon’s CEO for Iberia, Africa and Israel.

The rebranded firm will retain the experienced leadership of long-time Aon Angola CEO Tiago Dá Mesquita as he takes the helm.
