Beach hits pay at Bauer field

Australia

SYDNEY, January 6, 2016 – Beach Energy has encountered pay from its appraisal well in the Bauer field with its Cooper probe, according to the Australian oil and gas operator’s monthly drilling report.

The local company’s Bauer-24 well in the South Australian Cooper Basin hit a 3-metre net oil column in the Namur sandstone and a 3.5-metre oil-bearing interval in the McKinlay member reservoirs.

The objective of the test was to understand the extent of the Bauer and Chiton fields.

As the operator of PEL 91, Beach Energy holds a 40-percent stake, with Australian upstream company Drillsearch Energy owning 60 percent.
