BP starts up Egypt gasfield

LONDON, February 12, 2018 – The Atoll gas project offshore Egypt has come on stream, operator BP announced on Monday.

“The project, in the North Damietta concession in the East Nile Delta, was delivered seven months ahead of schedule and 33% below the initial cost estimate,” the super-major said in a statement, adding that Phase 1 development had cost about USD 1 billion.

Atoll currently produces 9.91 mcm (350 mcf) of gas per day, allocated to domestic consumption, as well as 10,000 boepd of condensate. BP now produces about 50% of Egypt’s national gas supply, the statement added.
