Canacol in Colombia gas discovery
BOGOTá, February 23, 2018 – E&P company Canacol Energy has made a significant gas discovery in its VIM 5 block in Colombia, the company announced in a press statement on Thursday.
The Pandereta-3 appraisal well reached more than 31 metres of net gas pay at a total depth of 2,906 metres. The well, drilled with the Pioneer 302 rig, flowed at a rate of 4.76 mcm (168 mcf) per day from the upper part of the Cienaga de Oro sandstone reservoir.
According to the statement, by mid-year, Canacol will send gas from Pandereta to its gas processing facility, which currently receives gas from the Jobo field.
Pioneer 302 is now preparing to drill the Chirimia-1 appraisal well in the same block. The objective is to appraise the Clarinete field. Following the completion of that well, the rig will drill the Breva-1 exploration well in Canacol’s VIM 21 block.
The company has 100% stakes in both VIM 5 and VIM 21.
