Iguana field offshore Trinidad

Drilling at Trinidad’s Iguana complete

PORT OF SPAIN, July 4, 2018 – Well Services Petroleum Company has completed a three-well drilling campaign at DeNovo Energy’s offshore Iguana field, the services provider said in a company statement on Tuesday.

“The Well Services team was able to work quickly and clinically to ensure that all drilling targets were reached, despite numerous technical challenges due to the complicated subsurface structure of the field,” said Neil McCartney, Well Services’ operations manager.

The gas wells were drilled with Rig 110 in the first such operation to be done off the country’s west coast. The rig was also “the first local jackup rig to be used for a natural gas campaign in Trinidad and Tobago” and “the first rig to install a platform subsea structure in the region, securely setting the Iguana conductor-supported platform, driving seven conductors and completing its first flowback well testing and flaring,” the statement said.

Located in Block 1a, the Iguana gasfield is undergoing fast-tracked development to reach an output of 2.27 mcm (80 mcf) per day in 2018. DeNovo has an 80% operating stake in the field, with partner National Gas Company holding the remaining 20%.
