Ecopetrol in Colombia oil discovery

BOGOTA, July 9, 2018 – Colombian NOC Ecopetrol made an oil find in the VMM-32 block through the Búfalo-1 well, international media reported over the weekend.

Targeting the Honda Group in the Middle Magdalena Valley Basin, Búfalo-1 was drilled to a depth of 1,153 metres, making the block’s first hydrocarbons discovery.

“The Bufalo-1 well is located very close to Ecopetrol’s transport infrastructure, which could facilitate its commercial production stage,” the NOC’s press release said.

Ecopetrol operates VMM-32 with a 51% stake, while partner CPVEN E&P holds the remaining interest.
