Guerrillas hit Colombia pipeline

BOGOTA, September 6, 2016 – National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas have attacked Colombia’s Caño Limón – Coveñas pipeline, Ecopetrol announced late on Monday.

While the bomb attack did not disrupt production or exports, it did interrupt flows as pumping operations were temporarily halted. No further details related to the attack on the 780-km pipeline were disclosed.

The Colombian government has sought to enter into negotiations with the ELN, as it previously did with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, better known as FARC. The latter reached a peace accord with the government last month. Talks with ELN have yet to get underway, as the group has thus far refused to release its hostages.
