Heidelberg reaches first oil

USA

NEW ORLEANS, January 19, 2016 – First oil at Anadarko Petroleum’s Heidelberg field was reached Monday in deepwater acreage in the Gulf of Mexico. Production was initially expected in April 2016.

The 800,000-bopd floating production facility represents the company’s second truss spar project since 2014 in the Gulf of Mexico. Beginning production in January 2015, Anadarko’s Lucius spar truss served as the model for the newer Heidelberg truss spar facility, which includes six production wells, a stand alone spar and two drill centres in addition to gas export lines measuring 16” in diameter and dual looped flow lines measuring 8” in diameter.

Heidelberg is located 225 km offshore Louisiana and straddles Green Canyon blocks 859, 860, 903, 904 and 948. Discovered in 2009, the field reaches depths of around 1,620m and holds estimated reserves of about 200 million barrels of oil.
