KKB set to win Kinabalu award
SABAH, September 14, 2015 – KKB Engineering, a Malaysian company, confirmed it is set to win an engineering, procurement and construction contract on Canadian multinational Talisman Energy’s Kinabalu Deep wellhead platform located off Sabah, Malaysia.
KKB reported on Friday that its associate company OceanMight, an engineering services company, received a letter of award from Talisman Malaysia Limited.
KKB is still awaiting its formal letter of award, but has scheduled work on the platform to start in the first quarter of 2017.
While the exact contract value is unknown, it is believed to range between $170 million and $180 million.
Reports have revealed that KKB’s bid was 5 percent lower than bids placed by at least 8 other companies, including SapuraKencana Petroleum and Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering.
The project will include work on a 3,000-tonne wellhead platform and pipelines that will be installed and tied into the field’s existing offshore infrastructure.
