Mexico adds new E&P bid round

MEXICO CITY, July 7, 2017 – Mexican Secretary of Energy Pedro Joaquín Coldwell announced at a Thursday conference that the country would hold four E&P tenders before President Enrique Peña Nieto’s term ends in November 2018.
One of these tenders, a combination of rounds 2.2 and 2.3, is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, while a deepwater auction will be scheduled for December.
In 2018, only one tender had been previously expected to occur before November, but Coldwell’s latest statement indicates that a fourth tender, or Round 3.2, has been added to the docket.
The energy secretary said that the newly-added auction would include a mix of deepwater and shallow-water blocks, in addition to offering shale areas for the first time ever. The round would also represent Mexico’s third deepwater auction.
