Mozambique LNG plan gets nod

HOUSTON, March 6, 2018 – Anadarko Petroleum has received government approval for its development plan for the Golfinho/Atum gasfield in Area 1 offshore Mozambique, the US independent announced on Monday.

The nod follows a long-term sale and purchase agreement which the Area 1 partners struck with Électricité de France (EDF) in February, according to which they will supply the French electricity giant with 1.2 million tonnes per year of LNG over a period of 15 years.

“The approval of the Development Plan continues advancement toward a Final Investment Decision as it builds upon other recent achievements, including the announcement of our long-term SPA (Sale and Purchase Agreement) with EDF, commencement of resettlement, and our ongoing work to secure project financing,” said Mitch Ingram, the company’s vice-president for international and deepwater operations and project management.

Anadarko is the operator of Area 1 with a 26.5% stake. Its partners are Mitsui (20%), Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (15%), ONGC Videsh (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy (10%), BPRL Ventures (10%) and PTTEP (8.5%).
