New wells raise Egypt’s output

CAIRO, December 13, 2016 – Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum on Monday said that eight new wells have been brought on line since June 2016.

 

Spread across concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea, Nile Delta and the Western Desert, the eight wells have added 14.6 mcm (517 mcf) per day in natural gas and 2,500 bopd to domestic production, a report from the ministry said.

In the same report, the ministry indicated that these wells include Petrobel’s Nedoco South-West 2, which has a gas production capacity of some 2.4 mcm (85 mcf) per day, and Nedoco West 3, the capacity of which stands at around 2.5 mcm (90 mcf) per day. Both came on line in November 2016.

The report also noted that production from Petrobel’s North-West 2 and 6 wells currently averages 2.8 mcm (100 mcf) and 3.9 mcm (140 mcf), respectively.
